India Reaffirms Support for Peace and Stability
Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with PM Karki, extending warm congratulations on her appointment. He expressed heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of life during recent protests in Nepal and reiterated India’s full support for Nepal’s efforts to restore peace and stability.
Modi emphasized the importance of strengthening the “special ties” between the two nations and conveyed best wishes on behalf of the Government and people of India. He also extended greetings on the occasion of Nepal’s upcoming National Day. PM Karki thanked India for its steadfast support and affirmed her commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
United States Emphasizes Democratic Partnership
U.S. Ambassador Dean Thompson met with PM Karki to express condolences for the lives lost in recent demonstrations. He reaffirmed America’s support for Nepal’s peaceful and democratic journey, highlighting the long-standing partnership between the two nations that spans over 78 years.
The meeting included discussions on key areas of cooperation such as trade, economic growth, disaster management, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement—described as Nepal’s most transformative infrastructure partnership. The ambassador emphasized that these efforts aim to make both nations safer, stronger, and more prosperous.
China Expresses Warm Congratulations and Cooperation
The Chinese Embassy in Nepal issued a statement following a meeting between Ambassador Chen Song and Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki. Ambassador Chen extended warm congratulations on her appointment and reiterated China’s support for Nepal’s transitional leadership.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views and agreed to further promote friendship and cooperation. The gesture reflects China’s continued interest in maintaining strong bilateral ties and supporting Nepal’s development goals.
