Durga Prasai Announces Formation of New Political Party

Kathmandu— Prominent medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has officially announced his decision to form a new political party. Just two weeks after being released from Dillibazar prison, Prasai held a press conference on Monday to declare his political ambitions.

Prasai stated that while leading social campaigns, he faced repeated obstructions—including having his office locked—which led him to conclude that activism alone was insufficient. “I am a successful entrepreneur with political awareness. Now, Nepal and Nepalis are my priority over my family and myself,” he said.

Prasai revealed that the name of the party will be announced soon.

He emphasized that he and his campaign allies are committed to establishing a political force through party formation.

“We are compelled to engage in politics to correct what politics has damaged,” Prasai declared. “Our campaign will now move forward through a political party.”

This move marks a significant shift in Nepal’s political landscape.
