Nepal Recalls 11 Ambassadors in Major Diplomatic Reshuffle
Kathmandu — In a sweeping diplomatic shake-up, the Government of Nepal has recalled 11 ambassadors from key global postings. The decision was made during Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, with Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel announcing that the envoys must return to Nepal by November 6.

Recalled Ambassadors:
- China – Krishna Prasad Oli
- Germany – Shail Rupakheti
- Israel – Dhan Prasad Pandit
- Malaysia – Netra Prasad Timilsina
- Qatar – Ramesh Chandra Paudel
- Russia – Jang Bahadur Chauhan
- Saudi Arabia – Naresh Bikram Dhakal
- Spain – Shanil Nepal
- United Kingdom – Chandra Kumar Ghimire
- United States – Lok Darshan Regmi
- Japan – Durga Bahadur Subedi (the only career diplomat among them)
This move signals a recalibration of Nepal’s diplomatic strategy, though some ambassadors appointed during the previous KP Sharma Oli administration—such as those in India, Australia, Denmark, South Korea, South Africa, and Sri Lanka—remain in place.

- ✅ $10 million grant accepted from the World Bank’s Multidonor Trust Fund for the Public Finance Management Project.
- ⚡ Joint ventures approved between Nepal Electricity Authority and India’s Power Grid Corporation to build two 400 kV transmission lines: Inaruwa–Poorniya and Dodhara–Bareilly.
- Mutual Legal Aid Treaty with India approved, with plans to expand similar treaties globally.
- Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground master plan endorsed as a national priority project; bidding and procurement processes to begin.
- ⚖️ Promotions:
- Jitendra Babu Thapaliya promoted to Gazetted Special Category and appointed Secretary of the Council.
- Uddhav Prasad Pudasaini promoted to Special Class and appointed Secretary of the Commission of Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons.
This reshuffle and series of decisions reflect the government’s intent to streamline diplomatic representation, enhance infrastructure cooperation, and reinforce legal and institutional frameworks
