Nepal–China Partnership for Education and Prosperity: Jiri Secondary School Building Officially Handed Over

Jiri/Dolakha — In a significant gesture of bilateral cooperation, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, formally handed over the newly constructed building of Jiri Secondary School to the Government of Nepal. Built with financial support from the Chinese government, the state-of-the-art facility aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for students in rural areas.

Part of the “Ten Gift Schools” Initiative

The Jiri Secondary School is one of the key infrastructures under China’s “Ten Gift Schools” project, which reflects China’s long-term commitment to improving access to and quality of education in Nepal’s remote and underserved regions.

Ambassador Song Reaffirms Commitment

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ambassador Song reiterated the foundation of Nepal–China relations:

“China will always stand with Nepal—for education, prosperity, and building a better future.”

He emphasized that the school symbolizes the enduring friendship and shared development goals between the two nations.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The handover is expected to deepen educational cooperation and strengthen people-to-people ties. With its modern and inclusive infrastructure, the school is seen as a vital step toward securing a brighter academic future for local children.

China’s support is being recognized as a transformative contribution for children in areas lacking access to quality education, reinforcing the broader vision of inclusive development and mutual progress.
