Fugitive Defendant in Theft Case Arrested from Border Area

Gulariya: Bardiya Police have arrested an absconding defendant who was on the run after being convicted in a theft case. A joint police team from the District Police Office, Bardiya, and the Area Police Office, Mainapokhar, arrested 28-year-old Aditya Pariyar of Pushpa Nagar, Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-3.

According to the police, Pariyar was found hiding in the Nepal-India border area of Karnalipur, Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-7. He was apprehended at the same location, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Damarpal.

On 2081/05/17 (September 2, 2024), the Bardiya District Court had found Pariyar guilty of theft and sentenced him to 4 months and 24 days in prison, a fine of NPR 5,000, and a payment of NPR 200 to the victim relief fund. He had been a fugitive since the court’s verdict.

Police stated that the arrested Pariyar has been presented to the Bardiya District Court for further legal action.
